Digital solutions in the service of local small-scale producers – the tekosarad.hu platform

Within the framework of the INTERREG HUSK #ACCESS project, an interview was conducted with Hegyi József Balázs, the creator and operator of TEKOSARAD.HU, in order to better understand the digital solutions offered by the platform and their potential cross-border applicability in small-scale producer sales. TEKOSARAD.HU is an online marketplace and order management system that creates a direct link between local producers and customers. The platform does not function simply as a webshop, but as a complex logistics and order management solution supporting home delivery, pick-up points and the operation of producer-consumer communities.

One of the main advantages of the system is that producers can manage their own delivery areas and sales cycles, while the platform automatically supports order processing and customer communication. The digital solution reduces administrative burdens and enables producers to focus on production and customer relations. For customers, it provides a simple and transparent interface where they can only see the products available to them.

The development fits well into the broader range of Western European examples that use digital tools to reduce the role of intermediaries, while providing producers with independent product management and sales opportunities. This makes the model adaptable for cross-border cooperation between small-scale producers as well. The core functions of the system – order management, the organisation of pick-up points, the connection of producer communities and the support of logistics processes – are well suited to the needs of cross-border small-scale producer sales. Examining such examples helps to define digitalisation not merely as a technological development, but also as a tool for community building. In line with the objectives of the #ACCESS project, similar platforms can contribute to strengthening short supply chains, developing the local economy and expanding cross-border cooperation by digitally addressing administrative difficulties.

The experiences of TEKOSARAD.HU and similar European digital marketplaces show that IT developments can not only simplify sales processes, but may also contribute to managing the legal and administrative differences that hinder cross-border trade. A well-designed digital platform can automatically handle different taxation, registration, labelling or documentation requirements, thereby reducing the administrative burden on producers and facilitating adaptation to the regulatory environments of different countries. In the long term, such solutions can contribute to the development of a more unified, transparent and efficient cross-border sales system for small-scale producers.
