The Museums-PASS-Musées is the first “cultural passport” giving annual access to 320 museums, castles and gardens throughout France, Switzerland and Germany.
The service is managed by the Association Museums-PASS-Musées. The governing bodies of the association are composed of German, French and Swiss members. The board of directors is responsible for all financial and association decisions. The team based in Basel is responsible for implementation, and the committee of experts can make recommendations to the board on museum-related issues. Initially, the project was funded by multiple sources, including German Länder, Swiss cantons, the French government, and the Interreg program. However, since 2004, it has operated on a self-financing model. The generated revenue is allocated among the participating museums.
