Info Norden is a common information platform for Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the three special status areas (Åland, Faroe Islands, Greenland), which aims to make the regulatory framework in the Nordic countries more transparent and to facilitate cross-border movement (for work, study, business or settlement). The financial backing for the information service is guaranteed by the Nordic Council of Ministers, while the day-to-day operation is the responsibility of the Secretariat’s Communications Department.
Info Norden is not an ombudsman organisation, it only provides general and practical information on the conditions for movement between the Nordic countries. They are also responsible for identifying any obstacles to the free movement of people and businesses. You can report these problems by filling in the contact form on the website.
The cooperation has a dedicated project manager and office in each country (and in the three special status areas). These facilities are funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and run by different organisations in each country, such as Nordregio, the Nordic Association, North Atlantic Cooperation (NORA) or the Nordic Institute (NAPA).
Through the online database, users can search for the obstacles they encounter and the national regulations related to them, by country and by subject area. The site provides guidance on areas such as business, having children, death, education, health, family, household, employment, pensions, moving house, taxation, social security and more. Each topic is accompanied by a detailed description and links to the national authorities’ websites.
Info Norden maintains contacts with other institutions such as SOLVIT, EURES, the Council for Free Movement, Nordic embassies, national agencies and other organisations. Thanks to this, the obstacles and problems collected by Info Norden are also brought to the attention of those with political power.
