The Spanish-French PYREMPFOR project, implemented between 2016 and 2019, aims to promote the forestry profession across borders. Both sides of the border face the challenges of rural depopulation and underutilization of local resources. In the Pyrenees region, the forestry profession can offer a solution to this problem, especially if it is implemented on a cross-border basis through the coordination of training systems. As part of the project, local training centers are introducing innovative training methods that comply with the requirements of the European Forestry Education and Training System (EFESC). This will not only expand the knowledge offered by the training centers, but also make the forestry profession more popular, create opportunities for exchange programs, and improve the employment prospects of recent graduates throughout the border region.

The project activities include familiarization with the labor market conditions in the region and the rules governing cross-border employment, deepening the links between professionals in the field, organizing exchange programs, developing a unified qualification system using European certificates, and promoting training centers affiliated with the EduForest Pyrempfor system.

Overall, the project represents a step forward in the mutual recognition of professional qualifications.
