With the aim of expanding the knowledge of firefighters and broadening their cross-border contacts, the Polish-Lithuanian Interreg programme provided an opportunity to implement the C-B COOP 2.0 project. C-B COOP 2.0, which can be seen as a continuation of an earlier project, began in 2024 and will not be completed until November 2025. The investment focuses on the fire brigades of the Polish town of Korycin and the Lithuanian towns of Nemenčinė and Gineitiškės, and aims to strengthen cooperation between them. The project will deepen trust between firefighters, facilitate the exchange of best practices and experiences, and improve rescue and firefighting technology.
The project will include joint professional and sporting events such as conferences, training courses and firefighting competitions. The training courses will discuss current firefighting issues and topics that pose challenges on both sides of the border. These include dealing with fires caused by solar panels, electric cars and peat, as well as water rescue operations.
