Background material of reference group of Győr

The background material was prepared for the initial round of reference group meeting held in Győr on January 25, 2024, within the #ACCESS project focusing on promoting legal accessibility in the Slovak-Hungarian border region. This meeting aimed to bring together mayors and experts from the region to discuss challenges and opportunities related to cross-border cooperation and integration and to explore the intricacies of cross-border movements, legal and administrative barriers, and the socio-economic dynamics affecting residents and businesses in the border area as well as to collaboratively identify potential projects enhancing regional cohesion and development. The document, which laid the foundation for the in-depth discussions, touched on such critical topics as Győr’s central role in the functional city dynamics and the main characteristics of the cross-border metropolitan influence zones. The material also covers the possible areas of cross-border integration and cooperation, highlighting the possibilities of enhanced cooperation.
