This year’s AquaPhone event will take place in Štúrovo and Esztergom on Saturday 8 June 2024.

For the 18th time, the cultural event will commemorate a tradition from the previous century, recalling a time when relatives and friends on both sides of the border could only communicate with each other via the Danube. In the calm evenings, the river carried the messages of the border people for even half a kilometre. The AquaPhone performance shows raise awareness of the importance of human contact and the significance of surmounting distances and borders.

The event will bring together Hungarian and Slovak writers, musicians, translators, visual artists and actors to the two border towns on Saturday afternoon.
