The EPirEMed cross-border project, implemented under the Interreg program, aims to integrate tourism in the eastern Pyrenees. The cooperation involves various tourism organizations and local authorities committed to creating high-quality, cross-border tourism products. The initiative combines rural and mountain tourism with the promotion of sustainable modes of transport. Their product range consists of two main parts: self-guided themed routes and multi-day guided tour packages.
Visitors to the border region can choose from a total of 17 cross-border themed routes that can be explored without a guide. These include routes focusing on natural features, geology, natural waters (streams, lakes or the sea), industrial history, villages, wine-making, mountain railways, skiing, national parks and built heritage. In addition to a brief description of the routes, an interactive map and a list summarizing the activities along the route by theme help tourists find their way around.
In addition, a separate trip planner provides an overview of the programs and opportunities offered by service providers in the region, whether attractions, accommodation, local products, information points, restaurants, or transportation options. In addition to listing these locations, the contact details of the service providers are also provided. Activities can be filtered by additional themes: nature, culture, sports, dining, and health.
In addition to individual tours, the project also offers guided multi-day tour packages. After filtering by different categories, interested parties can find the itinerary (broken down by day), costs, tour parameters, and contact details of the organizer.
