The Kaiserwinkl Tourist Association in Tyrol offers a wide range of sporting activities for visitors to the region. As the organisation is active in the Austrian-Bavarian border region, some of the programmes have a cross-border character (e.g. cross-border skiing), such as water sports on the Großache river, known as the Tiroler Ache in the German part of the region. Some of the guided tours start on the Austrian side and end on the Bavarian side, allowing participants to follow the natural flow of the water.

The tourist association provides an overview of operators and clubs offering white water rafting and kayaking and equipment rental. These organisations have qualified staff to guarantee safe paddling on the fast-flowing Alpine river.

In addition to safety regulations, the association’s website also lists restrictions that prohibit all water sports on the river during the fish spawning season.
