The SENSationalSTEM project, implemented in the framework of the Interreg Central Baltic 2014-2020 programme, helps students with special educational needs to use their skills and generate their own income. To accomplish this, the project focuses on fostering entrepreneurship among SEN students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The initiative has been implemented between 2020 and 2022 with 4 partners (2 Estonian and 1-1 Finnish and Latvian).
The pre-defined activities can be divided into three main parts. These include, the education of students with SEN, the preparation of training materials and the training of teachers (to enable them to effectively organise additional training for students with SEN). Joint cross-border projects envisioned by the students will be launched, accompanied by extensive communication efforts. Finally, the promotion of entrepreneurship among young people will take place.[1]
Thanks to the project, a total of 84 students with SEN from 15 schools received training, came up with 13 entrepreneurial ideas and started 7 cross-border businesses. In addition, 20 teachers and 20 mentors were trained.
